Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your visit.
Shopping & Appointments
How far out should I start shopping for my wedding gown?
Most wedding gowns take 5–6 months to arrive once ordered, and the alteration process typically takes an additional 2 months. We highly recommend ordering your gown at least 8 months before your wedding date to ensure everything is ready in time.
What is the price range of your gowns?
Our made-to-order gowns range from $1,300 up to $6,000, depending on the designer, style, and level of customization. Our average price for a wedding dress is around $2,400, and off-the-rack and sample gowns are available at lower price points. By designer: Stella York $1,300–$2,000; Moonlight $1,500–$3,000; Justin Alexander $1,700–$2,700; Sophie et Voilà $2,500–$4,000; and Jesus Peiro $3,500–$6,000.
Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns?
Appointments let us give you and your party a personalized, one-on-one experience in a private, comfortable setting with a dedicated stylist. You can book online or call 470.225.7500.
Can I try on wedding dresses without an appointment?
We strongly recommend an appointment so you're guaranteed a private suite and a dedicated stylist. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability, but appointments always take priority — calling ahead at 470.225.7500 is the surest way to be seen.
How long does a bridal appointment take?
A typical bridal appointment lasts about 90 minutes — plenty of time to talk through your vision, try on a curated selection of gowns, and find your dress without feeling rushed. We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early to check in and get settled.
How many people can I bring to my bridal appointment?
You're welcome to bring up to 4 guests. If you'd like to bring more, let us know in advance so we can do our best to accommodate your group. Choose trusted guests who know you well — your mom or mother figure, a sibling, your best friend or maid of honor, a close aunt or grandmother, or your wedding planner. The best entourage cheers you on, gives honest but kind feedback, and helps you feel confident.
What should I wear to my bridal appointment?
It's all about feeling comfortable while picturing yourself on your big day. Wear nude, seamless underwear so nothing shows through the gowns, and bring a strapless bra if you have one (many gowns have built-in support). A little light makeup and your hair done in a way that feels like "you" helps you visualize the full look. Wear something easy to change in and out of, and if you have your wedding shoes — or know the heel height — bring them, as it makes a real difference in how a gown falls.
What should I bring to my bridal appointment?
Bring the shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day (or heels of similar height), a strapless or convertible bra, seamless nude underwear, and any shapewear you'll use. Inspiration photos and details about your venue, theme, and colors help your stylist understand your vision. Dressing-room space is limited, so leave large bags at home.
What should I know before my first bridal appointment?
Come with an open mind and a sense of how you want to feel on your wedding day — that matters more than a specific style in mind. Your appointment is private and unhurried, with a dedicated stylist who'll guide you. And don't be surprised if you find the one at your very first appointment — it happens more often than brides expect, so come ready to say yes.
What if I don't find my dress on the first visit?
No problem at all. Many brides take more than one appointment, and you're welcome to schedule a second or third visit to continue your search. There's never pressure to say yes on your first visit — we want you completely confident in your choice.
How many wedding dresses can I try on during my appointment?
Most brides try on 8–10 gowns during their 90-minute appointment. Your stylist curates a selection based on your style, body, and budget, and you're welcome to try anything that catches your eye.
Do I need to know my style before my appointment?
Not at all. Many brides arrive unsure of what they want, and that's perfectly normal. Your stylist will ask about your venue, theme, and preferences, then guide you through different silhouettes to discover what looks and feels best — you might be surprised by what you fall in love with.
Can I take photos or videos during my appointment?
Yes — we encourage you to capture the moment you find "the one" and share favorites with loved ones who couldn't be there. We only ask that you don't post designer gowns on social media with price tags visible, out of respect for our designers.
Can I book a same-day appointment?
We try to accommodate last-minute requests, but same-day appointments aren't guaranteed. We recommend booking at least 1–2 weeks ahead, especially for weekends. You're always welcome to call 470.225.7500 to check for last-minute availability.
Do you offer private bridal appointments?
Yes — every appointment is private and personalized. You'll have a dedicated stylist and a private seating area for you and your guests. We don't do group or cattle-call experiences; your appointment time is exclusively yours.
I'm getting married in less than 4 months — is it too late?
Don't worry — we've got you. You can still find your dream dress with our selection of beautiful off-the-rack gowns (sample gowns in excellent condition), and some designers offer rush production or ready-to-ship styles perfect for shorter timelines.
Why is my wedding dress size larger than my regular size?
Bridal sizing runs smaller than standard street sizing, especially for designer and couture gowns, so it's completely normal to wear a size or two (or more) larger than everyday clothing. It's just a number — what matters is how the dress fits and feels. Our stylists guide you through sizing and alterations for a flawless fit.
Designers & Collections
What wedding dress styles do you carry?
We carry every major silhouette — A-line, ball gown, mermaid, fit-and-flare, sheath, trumpet, and bohemian — alongside modern minimalist, romantic lace, classic traditional, and fashion-forward designs. Necklines, sleeve options, and back details span the full range, from strapless and sweetheart to illusion, off-shoulder, and long-sleeve.
What wedding dress designers do you carry?
We carry a carefully curated collection from renowned designers including Jesus Peiro, Sophie et Voilà, Stella York, Justin Alexander, and Moonlight. Each brings a distinct aesthetic, so there's something for every bride's vision and budget.
Can I see specific designers during my appointment?
Absolutely — let us know your preferred designers when you book and we'll pull gowns from those collections for you. Your stylist will also suggest similar styles you might love.
Do you carry Jesus Peiro wedding dresses?
Yes. Jesus Peiro is a Spanish designer known for sophisticated, fashion-forward gowns with exquisite detailing and luxurious fabrics — clean lines, modern silhouettes, and impeccable construction for brides seeking contemporary elegance.
Do you carry Stella York wedding dresses?
Yes — we carry a curated selection of Stella York, known for vintage-inspired romance, intricate lace, and a flattering fit, offering designer quality at accessible price points.
Do you carry Justin Alexander gowns?
Yes. Justin Alexander is one of our featured designers, offering timeless elegance with modern sophistication — from classic ball gowns to sleek silhouettes, all with exceptional quality and beautiful detailing.
What's the difference between your designers?
Each brings a distinct aesthetic: Jesus Peiro offers Spanish sophistication and modern luxury; Stella York specializes in vintage romance at accessible pricing; Justin Alexander provides timeless, classic elegance; Sophie et Voilà features delicate, fashion-forward designs; and Moonlight offers diverse styles with excellent value. Your stylist will help match a designer to your style and budget.
Which designers work best for plus-size brides?
Several of our designers — including Stella York, Justin Alexander, and Moonlight — create gowns beautifully constructed for curvy figures, with supportive boning, strategic seaming, and flattering silhouettes. Our stylists are experienced in recommending styles that celebrate your curves, and our in-house alterations ensure a perfect fit.
Which designers work best for petite brides?
Sophie et Voilà and Stella York offer proportions that work beautifully for smaller frames. And because our in-house alterations team can modify any gown for perfect petite proportions, you're never limited to a single designer.
Can I order a dress from a designer you don't carry?
We focus on the collections we carefully curate and know intimately, rather than special-ordering from outside lines. With our range of designers and hundreds of styles, we're confident we can find your perfect dress from our selection.
Do you host designer trunk shows?
Yes — we periodically host trunk shows featuring expanded collections, exclusive styles, and occasional designer discounts. They're announced on our website and social media, so follow us or join our email list to hear what's coming up.
Buying & Ordering
Do I need to place a deposit to order my gown?
Yes — a 50% deposit is required to place your order, with the remaining balance due when your dress arrives in-store.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). A 50% deposit places your order, with the balance due when your gown arrives. If you have questions about how to manage your payment, just ask your stylist — we'll do our best to work with you.
What happens after I order my wedding dress?
We send your measurements and specifications to the designer, and your gown is made over the next 5–6 months. We'll call you the moment it arrives, when your final balance is due, and then we'll schedule your first alterations appointment to begin perfecting the fit.
How long does it take to receive my gown after ordering?
Most made-to-order gowns arrive about 5–6 months after ordering. This varies slightly by designer, and we'll give you a specific estimate at the time of purchase. Some designers offer rush production for an added fee, and off-the-rack gowns are available for immediate purchase.
What is your return policy?
Wedding dress sales are final and deposits are non-refundable. This is standard in the bridal industry because each gown is made to order specifically for you. We'll help make sure you're completely confident before you order — and you're always welcome to take more than one appointment.
Can I exchange or cancel my order?
Because each gown is custom-made to your measurements, orders can't be exchanged or cancelled once placed, and deposits are non-refundable. We understand plans can change, but bridal orders are final commitments — which is why we never rush your decision.
Do you price match?
We don't price match. Our pricing reflects the personalized service, expert consultations, private appointments, and in-house alterations we provide. Designer pricing is also set by the designers themselves. Be cautious of unauthorized sellers offering lower prices — these may be counterfeit or unauthorized imports without designer warranties.
Can I purchase a sample gown?
Yes — sample gowns are occasionally available at a discount through our off-the-rack program, sold as-is in their current size and condition. Availability changes frequently, so contact us or check our off-the-rack page for current inventory.
What's included in the price of my gown?
The price includes your made-to-order gown constructed to your measurements. Alterations are separate; most brides invest an additional $750+ to achieve a perfect custom fit.
Alterations
Do you offer in-house alterations?
Yes — our dedicated alterations studio, Custom Bridal Modifications, is right next door in Suite 240. Alterations are separate from the cost of your gown.
Are alterations included in the price of the dress?
No — all gowns require some level of tailoring, and the cost of alterations is separate from the gown.
How much do alterations usually cost?
Basic alterations average around $750. Additional appointments beyond the three standard fittings and more complex work will increase the total. You'll get a clear estimate at your first fitting.
When should I schedule my alterations?
Book your alterations at least 4 months before your wedding. Most gowns need 3 appointments, usually beginning about 2 months before your wedding day.
How many fittings will I need?
Three: an Initial Fitting (about 1 hour) to discuss, pin, and mark; a Second Fitting (about 1 hour) to check the work and make adjustments; and a Final Fitting (about 30 minutes) to confirm the fit and send your gown home with you.
What should I bring to my alterations appointment?
Bring the shoes you'll wear on your wedding day (essential for hemming), your undergarments and shapewear, any accessories like a veil or belt, and a hair tie or clip if you're planning an updo.
Can I book alterations online?
No — please call or visit to book. Fittings are personal, and we want to fully understand your needs and schedule the right date. Call 470.225.7500.
Can you alter a gown I bought somewhere else?
Yes — Custom Bridal Modifications welcomes gowns from any boutique, online retailer, or even family heirloom dresses, not just gowns from Suite Bridal. Call 470.225.7500 to schedule a consultation.
What types of alterations do you do?
All of them — hemming, taking in or letting out the bodice and skirt, bustle installation (French, American, ballroom), strap adjustments, neckline modifications, sleeve changes, zipper replacement, bead and embellishment work, adding cups or boning for support, and custom modifications to personalize your gown.
How do I know what alterations I need?
You don't need to know. At your first fitting, our seamstress assesses the fit, recommends what's needed, and pins the gown so you can see how each change will look. Most brides need hemming, a bustle, and minor taking-in at minimum.
Can you hem my dress?
Yes — hemming is one of our most common alterations. We hem to the perfect length based on your wedding-day shoe height. Pricing varies with the complexity and number of layers in your gown.
Do you install bustles?
Absolutely — bustles are essential for most gowns. We install French (under), American (over), and ballroom bustles depending on your dress and preference, and we'll demonstrate the options at your first fitting.
Can you take in or let out a gown?
Taking in is one of our most common alterations — bodice, waist, hips, and more for a perfectly fitted silhouette. Letting out is sometimes possible depending on the gown's seam allowance (often 1–2 inches). Our seamstress will tell you what's possible at your fitting, which is why we recommend a consistent weight through the process.
Can you change the neckline or sleeves?
In many cases, yes. We can raise or lower necklines, add illusion mesh, or adjust a V-neck depth — and we can add or remove sleeves (cap, three-quarter, long, off-shoulder, or illusion). Feasibility depends on your gown's construction, which we'll review at your fitting.
What if I gain or lose weight before the wedding?
Try to keep a consistent weight through the alterations process. If your weight changes, contact us right away — minor changes (5–10 lbs) are usually handled with adjustments, while larger changes may require extra fittings and cost. Scheduling your first fitting about 2 months out minimizes the window for fluctuation.
Can you alter vintage or heirloom gowns?
Yes — we have experience with vintage and heirloom gowns, which need special care due to delicate fabrics and older construction. We assess carefully and recommend alterations that preserve the dress's integrity while achieving a modern fit.
Do you do beadwork, embellishment, or repairs?
Yes — we reattach loose beading, add appliqués, relocate embellishments after alterations, and work carefully around existing beadwork. We also repair most damage, including torn seams, ripped fabric, missing beads, and broken zippers. If your gown is damaged before the wedding, contact us immediately so we can assess the timeline.
How long does the full alterations process take?
About 2 months from first to final fitting, with time built in for the seamstress to work between appointments and handle any unexpected adjustments. We schedule the final fitting 1–2 weeks before your wedding so your gown is ready with peace of mind.
Accessories, Flower Girl & Tuxedo
Do you sell veils and accessories?
Yes — we carry veils in many lengths (birdcage through cathedral) and styles, plus bridal jewelry, headpieces, belts, and other finishing touches. Your stylist will help you accessorize during your appointment so everything works together beautifully.
Can I bring my own veil and accessories?
Absolutely — many brides wear heirloom pieces or accessories purchased separately. We're happy to help you coordinate your own pieces with your gown.
Do you carry wedding shoes?
We don't sell shoes. We recommend purchasing them before your first alterations appointment so we can hem your gown to the correct length, and you're welcome to bring shoes to try with gowns at your initial appointment.
Do you sell flower girl dresses?
Yes — a beautiful selection from toddler through junior sizes, including classic white and ivory, romantic lace, tulle ball gowns, and simple elegant styles for your youngest wedding-party members.
What sizes and prices are flower girl dresses?
Sizes run from toddler (2T–4T) through juniors (up to roughly 14–16), depending on the designer, with some sample sizes available immediately. Most range from $150 to $400 depending on style and fabric.
When should I order flower girl dresses?
They take about 3–4 months to arrive, so we recommend ordering around the same time as your gown for coordinated delivery. Since children grow quickly, we'll time the order carefully and allow for alterations if needed.
Do you rent tuxedos?
Yes — we offer tuxedo and suit rentals for grooms and groomsmen through our partnership with Jim's Formal Wear, so you can coordinate your entire wedding party's attire in one place.
What tuxedo styles and pricing do you offer?
Through Jim's Formal Wear we offer classic black tuxedos, modern slim-fit styles, grey and navy suits, seasonal colors, and a full range of vests, ties, and accessories. Rentals typically run $150–$250 per person depending on style and accessories, with packages usually including jacket, pants, shirt, vest or cummerbund, tie, and shoes.
When should groomsmen get fitted, and can out-of-town groomsmen participate?
Groomsmen should be measured 3–4 months before the wedding, with final fittings about 2–3 weeks out. Because Jim's Formal Wear has locations nationwide, out-of-town groomsmen can be measured locally and have their tuxedo delivered to us for pickup or shipped directly to them.
Do you offer group discounts on tuxedos?
Yes — packages typically include discounts for multiple groomsmen, and many offer a free rental for the groom when a certain number of groomsmen rent. Ask about current promotions at your consultation.
Shipping & Delivery
Can you ship my gown to me?
Yes — we ship anywhere within the continental United States. Costs vary by gown weight and destination, and we'll provide an estimate when you place your order. Most brides, however, prefer to pick up in person.
How long does shipping take and how much does it cost?
Shipping typically takes 3–5 business days within the continental US via FedEx or UPS, usually $50–$150 depending on weight and destination. Each gown is packaged in a protective garment bag and box, with tracking provided. Shipping is at the buyer's risk; we recommend insurance for high-value gowns.
Do you ship internationally?
We primarily ship within the continental US. For international inquiries, please call 470.225.7500 to discuss options, timelines, customs, and costs — handled case by case.
Can I pick up my dress in person instead?
Absolutely — most brides do. Picking up in person lets you inspect your gown immediately, confirm the fit before alterations, and avoid shipping costs and risk. We'll call you as soon as it arrives.
